Clubs & Organizations

Listed below are the various clubs and activities offered at Nouvel Catholic Central. Additional clubs and activities can be established during the year. The process to begin a new club or activity is:
    •    Find an adult sponser for the club/activity
    •    Make sure the purpose and activity being proposed is consistent with the mission of the school
    •    Submit a request in writing to the Athletic Director (Mr. Boyd) for club sports or the Principal (Mr. Frost) for consideration

Band & Choir

Band and choir are full-year academic courses at Nouvel Catholic Central. Performances for both groups are held throughout the year. Additionally, the band marches at Homecoming and for a select number of football games during the season.

CHAMPS

'CHAMPS' is a student-athlete driven club focused on the incorporation of our faith into our athletic teams and contests.  Student-athlete leaders from each grade level meet and follow the framework of this Christian athlete program provided by the University of Notre Dame.  Meeting before school, the team is focused on providing a manual for all of our athletic teams to utilize throughout their seasons.

Forensics

Forensic speech gives tudents an opportunity to develop their public speaking and/or acting abilities through fun competition.  Students choose from one of twelve different categories to compete in - informatiive, oratory, impromptu, extemp, broadcasting, sales, Deamatic interp, prose, poetry, storytelling duo and multiple.  Students will go to 2-3 competitions plus regionals and possibly states during the year.

National Honor Society

National Honor Society is an organization founded upon four pillars: Scholarship, Leadership, Service and Character. Each February, sophomores, juniors and seniors who have a GPA of 3.5 or higher are invited to apply for membership. A faculty committee gives consideration to eligible students based on service, school involvement, a written essay and recommendations. Induction is held each year in April. Outstanding scholarship, leadership and character must be maintained to remain in NHS. Members are also expected to participate in service projects organized by NHS.

Science Olympiad

Science Olympiad is an academic club where students compete with other schools in twenty-three science based events. The emphasis is on problem solving, hands-on and minds-on learning practices. Some events require practical skills of building and perfecting their design and others are testing.

Spirit Club

Spirit Club is exactly what it sounds like! Members of this organization spread school spirit at Nouvel Catholic Central. Members make signs for sporting events and lead pep assemblies and cheers at games. Spirit Club members are known for having a smile on their face and a whole lot of energy.

Student Government

Members of Nouvel Student Government represent the collective voice of the student body. The students are responsible for helping plan major events throughout the school year. The events including Homecoming, pep assemblies, the Nouvel Oscars, freshman orientation, and community service projects. Student government members work closely with administration to advance the mission of the school.

Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD)

Students Against Destructive Decisions is a national organization that educates students about making positive decisions in dealing with challenges they face in their everyday lives. Members of this organization are involved in a variety of awareness campaigns that include drinking while driving prevention, suicide prevention, prom promise, anti texting and driving presentation, the homecoming assembly and homecoming parade float. Members of SADD have also hosted an open forum at the Dow Event Center for neighboring schools and community groups to share ideas and initiatives.

Students for Life

Students for Life is a national organization that educates students about the issues of abortion, euthanasia, and infanticide. Members of the Nouvel chapter support pro-life events in the Saginaw area and the organization’s officers meet on a regular basis to advance the pro-life cause. The mission statement of the Nouvel chapter is:

We are Students for Life, commanded by Christ to defend life wherever and however it is threatened. In Christ’s name, we are the voice of the voiceless.

We are committed to proclaiming the sanctity of life, by our actions and by our words. As Students for Life, this is our duty, our desire, and our command.

Quiz Bowl

Members of the Nouvel Quiz Bowl team prepare to represent the school in competitions throughout the state. Any student is welcome to audition for this enrichment activity. The Nouvel Quiz Bowl team competes in several tournaments each year. In April of 2009, the team finished state runners-up in their division.

Drama Club

Are you interested in theater? The Drama Club is comprised of students interested in all phases of a theater production. Members work on publicity, programs, set building, costumes, make-up, decorations, and fundraising. Acting is only part of the show - it takes a team to make them a success. Join us and become part of the show!
